SomNOG is a forum for Somali networking professionals to develop technical capacities, share experiences and collaborate on developing expertise and competency through training and research in networking and internet technologies. SomNOG is non-profit organization that is run by volunteers which aims to contribute to the growing eco-system of internet service providers and consumer by building relevant technology expertise.

SomNOG will hold a Network Technology Workshop prior to the meeting. The workshops and tutorials will take place at Marine Campus, City University, Mogadishu, Somalia, from 15th -19th Oct. The workshop will offer advanced training to operators of existing internet Service Providers (ISPs) who are participants in the process of developing and enhancing a national Internet with regional and international connectivity.
The workshop runs from Monday, 15 October to Thursday, 18 Oct. Each day is divided into three slots of approximately two hours each. There may be optional afternoon sessions on some days.

The classes will use approximately the following time slots. These times are not exact.

  • 08:00–10:00 — Morning session 1
  • 10:00–10:30 — Tea-Break
  • 10:30–12:30 — Morning session 2
  • 12:30–13:30 — Prayer and Lunch Break
  • 13:30–15:30 — Afternoon session 3
  • 16:00–18:30 — Optional sessions

Who should attend
Technical experts including Internet Service Providers (ISPs), university ICT experts, Network Engineers
and Policy makers who wish to acquire the necessary skills in ICT, Government, Regulators and
Telecommunication companies. It is a good opportunity for networking among peers and businesses.

SomNOG Tutorials
SomNOG will offer 1-day tutorials on advanced topics.
Tutorials take place in a classroom-style environment, and include a hands-on practical component. Tutorials are non commercial in nature, and most are technically oriented. They are intended to offer advanced training on technology already deployed or soon to be deployed on networking and related services provisioning for ISP operations.
