Introduction
This workshop is part of SomNOG5 technical workshops to be held on 23-25 October 2021. The purpose of this workshop is to build the technical skills of Somali network engineers and ICT professionals by equipping and training them with the necessary skills and concepts in the area of Internet Technology and Networking. During the four days of the workshop, we will use hands-on training in a well-equipped environment classrooms to train the participants how to plan, design and implement medium to large scale IP infrastructure networks. The workshop study delivery approach is 40-60 concepts and theory to hands-on exercise ratio. The participants will first learn the concepts and motivations behind every topic and then carry out practical exercises and configurations related to the learned concepts. Workshop Objectives The specific objective of this workshop will include but not limited to the following topics:
- Layer 2 switching technology,
- TCP/IP fundamentals
- Basics of IP routing protocols
- OSPF routing
- BGP routing
- Managing routing configurations
- Internet Exchange points between networks,
- Network security
- etc.
Who should attend
Technical staff who are now operating small, medium, or large scale multi-connectivity provider organizations, network engineers, network instructors, fresh graduate engineers, etc.
Pre-requisites
- Experience in TCP/IP networks
- Participants should bring their own laptops to the workshop.

- The workshop will run three full days from 8:00 AM to 04:30 PM
